Aftermath

Aftermath
(Of reading a Deviant Art poem)

Chalk on blackboard
Shrieks heard mid spine
Echo after half a century.

Last knuckle middle digit
Bears the dent
Of fingers squeezed
On throat of yellow pencil
Pressed hard on Big Chief pad.

Giggles, whispers, winks
Spitballs gumballs
Girls in tight sweaters
Cushman Motor Scooters

School bus coy romance
Un-requited love
False bravado
fights
Fear
And pimples.

Memory redefining
the gut meaning
Of anguish.
