It seems to me that the US gov’t. is appallingly hypocritical in imposing any judgment at all against the Syrians when it has been partnered with them for torture and extraordinary rendition.

Those events seem to be all but forgotten in the media today. Their potential could have been (were) considered ominous.
Hi Chuck. Good seeing you. Yeah, they seemed ominous, but it worked out okay in the end. Nobody protests the Vietnam War anymore, you don’t see much lumbering going on in the US, and nobody with the surname, Ford, has been president. No Black Panthers to speak of, no Branch Davidians, no Danny Weaver out there being heard about. Not to say the stage isn’t set for some more of it though. All those multi-national corporations, Wall Street bankers and weapons bucaneer industries have their own mercenary forces hired and poised under names such as ‘Blackwater’ etc. Ex-military guys who went to greener pastures in the shoot-em-all-and-let-God-sort’em-out’ bidness.
