Stumbling Through the Communication Abyss

Good morning readers.  Thanks for coming by.

Neighbor:  “Did you hear what the Governor of Texas did about Obamacare?

Me:  “I don’t know who’s Governor of Texas.  Don’t care what he did about anything.   Don’t know nothing about Obama, Obamacare, nothing.”

Neighbor:  “Well you’d better find out!”

Me:  “I don’t go to doctors.  Haven’t been to one in 20, 25 years.  If I can get out of here before the election I might be able to go through the next presidential term without knowing who’s president.”

Neighbor shakes head frowning, shrugs.  The Universe pauses in anticipation of the next topic of conversation.

  1. Great title. I recently had an almost identical conversation with my sister, who just happens to live in Texas, also in Hill Country. She practically lives inside the fraudulent medical system and I live entirely outside of it, and plan to keep it that way. The less I know of our equally fraudulent political system, the happier I am. That one’s tougher because of my time on the internet, but I’m getting better at averting my gaze.

  2. Wishing you continued health and ability to avoid doctors!

In the meantime, perhaps we can work up a trade: Gov. Perry for my Gov. Brownback. Kinda like a foreign exchange student program. Just a thought. . . . —George

  3. That’s the way I feel lots of days. Sadly I find myself checking things out as I don’t like great big surprises from the political bunch or much of anyone else, for that matter. Having worked in the medical profession most of my adult life I don’t have much good to say or think about it and the government getting more involved makes my opinion even worse. So if you can avoid thinking about it you will sleep better and have a calmer waking life.

Now I have to see if I can find either of the missing chickens at roost count last evening. Afraid a hawk was in my neighborhood. One was a 2-3 week old silky bantam chick and the other was fryer size Cuckoo Marans I planned on butchering this week.

    Blessings. M.

  4. Since I’m not able to raise chickens where I live, I do keep track of a thin slice of politics. Not as much fun, but it fills the void.

Well, at least I know that I don’t stand alone in my determination to ignore the bullshit…thank you so much, Old Jules. 😉
